1What types of grants are supported?
We support qualifying charitable organizations that demonstrate a strong connection between their missions, programs, and/or projects and the following values:
• We invest in education that inspires learning, organizations that teach new skills, and leading-edge expertise that seeds fresh opportunities to prepare children for the future.
• We believe in promoting community-wide literacy so that every person, regardless of age, has the ability to thrive.

2Are we eligible for a grant?
The Hagerman Foundation only awards grants to non-profit organizations classified by the Internal Revenue Code Selection of 501(c)(3).
• Grants are not awarded to individuals or political activity
• Grants are not awarded to purchase tickets or tables at fundraising events

3What is the process for applying for a grant?
When applying for a grant with The Hagerman Foundation please pick between our two processes, depending on the size of the grant request.
For a grant request of $10,000 or less:
• Create an account in the Grant Management System
• Complete the following information:
For a grant request of more than $10,000: Please submit your letter of inquiry (LOI) at least 4 months before your proposed project start date.

• Invitation to complete a full grant proposal or declination will be received within 30 days

• Project description
• What will success look like for proposed grant (intended impact on community)?
• Personnel and collaborations
• Budget uploads: organization's most recent income and expense sheet and a recent balance sheet
• Grant approval or denial notification will be received within 90 days
For a grant request of $10,000 or less:

4How long does the application take?
We have three grant cycles per year that begin January 1, May 1, and September 1, respectively. Each cycle lasts approximately four months.

5What are the guidelines for the letter of inquiry (LOI)?
Grant requests of more than $10,000 an LOI. Please submit your LOI through our Grant Management System
at least 4 months before your proposed project start date.
You will be asked to provide the following information:
• Mission, history, and overview of organization
• Goals, objectives, and population served by the project for which funding is being sought
• Status of the project (i.e. date established and anticipated duration)
• Budget uploads: organization's current operating budget and project budget with requested amounts

6Do you award multi-year grants?
Yes, the Foundation will consider awarding an organization a multi-year grant.
7Can we apply in consecutive years?
Yes, an organization can apply for grants consecutively, but only after the final grant evaluation report has been completed.
8If we received a grant from The Hagerman Foundation in the past, do we need to re-submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI)?
No, if your organization received funding from The Hagerman Foundation in the past you may submit your request under the Continued Support Grant Application.

9If our organization is awarded a grant, what are the reporting requirements?

10Does the Foundation award grants to individuals?
No, we only support 501(c)3 organizations.
11Does the Foundation sponsor fund raising events?
We do not buy tickets, purchase tables, or otherwise sponsor fundraising events and generally do not respond to such requests.
12Can we re-apply after our letter of inquiry (LOI) is declined?
If your LOI has been declined, you may re-apply after a one-year waiting period.
